Patreon Page – What to Expect from ME

Like many creatives, I have decided to launch a Patreon Page. For those who haven’t heard of it before, it is a place where people can pledge to donate a certain amount of money to artists they believe in. It doesn’t matter if it’s $1 a month or a $100, but by pledging a monthly amount, it gives artists a more dependable income. I don’t want fans to feel as if they must donate money to my journey, but the option should still be there. Ideally, I would love to create for the sake of creating, but at the end of the day, one needs to eat! Below is an overview of my Patreon Page.

My name is Caitlin Rose Jackson, and when I was three years old, I told my parents I wanted to be an artist. Over the last 24 years, the real world has shaped me, knocked me down, and did everything it could to make me cynical. I’ve been diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, had my soul crushed by Corporate America, and can’t make a living wage even though I have two degrees. There are times I feel incredibly down and defeated, but I still can’t shake the feeling that it’s my life’s mission to make a difference in the world – add a bit of magic. I know what I am capable of, and I know I can make a positive impact on those around me through all forms of art, whimsy, and by paying-it-forward whenever possible.

Creativity cannot be contained, and it likes to take form in any and every way possible, which is why I will NOT be limiting myself to abstract paintings, fictional writing, or daily sketches. Instead, inspiration and the quest for knowledge will be my driving force. Labels might help with branding, but putting anyone’s spirit in a box is the fastest way to lose their spark. I can’t tell you EXACTLY what to expect on this journey we will be taking together, but I can promise you two things:

1. I will always be 100% my authentic self. No fake smiles, no fake accomplishments. What you see is what you get. Above all, I value honesty, and believe in leading by example.
2. Everything I do will be done with positive, noble intentions.

If you choose to become a patron of mine, don’t do it because you are expecting me to follow you back on social media or because you want a personalized drawing once a month. Do it because you believe investing in young talent is investing in the future. Do it because you support the creative journey and believe there must be a better way of getting through life. Perhaps, I’m asking people to be too altruistic, but I want to be as transparent as possible.

Thank you in advance for giving me a chance; your support means the world to me. SO, without further ado…. Let’s get whimsical!

Through my own self exploration, I have realized it was the small, seemingly inconsequential things that always made my day special.  I realized there was a reason places like Disneyland and books like Harry Potter have done so well. They add magic to people’s seemingly “ordinary” lives. They allow people to feel like a child again; give people permission to dream with reckless abandon. Miracles can happen when a person finds their place of happiness, and big or small, they will pass these feelings on because they are far too glorious to be selfishly bottle-up.

#ProjectWhimsy is my way of trying to pass on these feelings day-to-day. I want to encourage everyone to perform those random acts of kindness, plant flowers someplace unexpected, or paint your garden fence a fanciful color. I implore you to go out into your community and start putting faces to those “strangers” you are trying to help. Go put smiles on their faces and make them feel like they have experienced something magical. Learn to care about your neighbor, and make it your mission to fill their day with light and love. Life is too short to be serious. Life needs to be filled with a touch of whimsy.

When I was three years old, I told my parents I wanted to be an artist. 24 years later, I still couldn’t shake that dream, so here I am!

Although art has always been my passion, I detoured a bit. First, I went to Scottsdale Community College and graduated with an Associates in Fine Art. This sounds like it’s on-track, but I mainly studied dance while there! Then I went to Arizona State University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Sustainability with a minor in Landscape Architecture. I even detoured farther out of my way by getting a job in the finance industry for several years. After feeling like my soul was slowly being crushed by Corporate America, I decided to take a risk and get back to my roots.

I have a unquenchable thirst for knowledge, and I use everything I read, see, and experience to draw inspiration from. My creative hiatus has forced me to reevaluate my artistic vision. It’s been a process, but I’m getting there, and I can’t wait to show everyone who I really am. It’s finally time to correct my course, and continue my journey toward becoming an artist.
